Nordström & Thulin (N&T) was founded in 1850, which makes it one of the oldest shipping companies in the world. Today the company is active in tanker, dry-cargo and ferry shipping. The company is listed on the Stockholm and Oslo Stock Exchanges and has about 17,000 shareholders.
N&T's shipping operations consist of about fifteen modern tankers and bulk carriers. The tankers are in the size range of Aframax (about 100,000 t), Suezmax (about 140,000 t) and VLCC/ULCC (280,000 t /360,000 t). In dry cargo, N&T operates Cape-size vessels of 150,000 t/165,000 t. The average age of N&T's tonnage is only about six years.
N&T has a 75% holding in Nord Jahre Tankers and owns 28% of the shares (48% of the votes) in Argonaut, which also has very modern tanker fleets.
The total tonnage commercially marketed by N&T amounts to four million t, including the fleets of Nord Jahre and Argonaut.
N&T is a know-how company where shipping operations are supported by a powerful shipbroking organization. The shipbrokers market N&T's vessels and the fleets of Nord Jahre Tankers and Argonaut as well as giving service to other owners and important charterers like oil companies, steel mills etc. Therefore, the company is well informed of the market movements.
N&T also operates the ferry service to and from the island of Gotland and owns 50% of EstLine.
