Siemens A/S is a Norwegian electrotechnical company wholly owned by Siemens AG.

Ever since its establishment in 1898, Siemens A/S has supplied equipment and services for the production, transmission, distribution and consumption of electrical energy. The company has three production units in Norway and commands substantial technical resources in engineering, assembling and services. Its overall activity is now organized into 9 divisions in Norway, several of which are active operators in various export markets.

Telecommunications

The Telecom Division has 260 employees and operates in both civilian and military market segments. The division has specialized in Air Defense Weapon Communications Systems (WCS). Important components developed by the division include the Target Data Terminal (TDT) and the Communications Controller (CC) which distribute target data from sensors to target engagement systems.
Our fibre optic transmission equipment for bit rates up to 155 Mbit/s is a vital system component in Siemens¥ international product line and is exported worldwide, as is our network management system (EMOS-QD2) for small and medium-sized transmission networks.
On the basis of experience gained from building a private GSM Network in Norway, the division has played a major role in planning and building mobile networks for operators in China, India, Indonesia, the Philippines and a number of other countries.

Oils and Gas

Siemens in Norway is the centre of competence for offshore control and automation systems within the Siemens company worldwide. Extensive expertise and technical solutions that comply with offshore requirements have been developed throughout more than 20 years of participation in most offshore projects in Norway.
The main activities comprise engineering, manufacturing, installation and maintainance of complete systems for control, safety, automation and telecommunication systems as well as electrical systems such as generators, switchgears, motors, variable speed drives, transformers and UPS-systems.
The entire range of power electronics from Siemens can be found on almost every platform.
The automation systems range from the first microprocessor based system for offshore use (1976) through the world's largest offshore control system (Oseberg 1989) to today's most modern SICOS - Siemens integrated control and safety system with a proven track record from several installations.
The total concept provided by Siemens represents an easier and more cost-optimal solution for the electrical and automation systems on an offshore platform.

Electrical Heating

The Electrical Heating Division of Siemens in Norway is the centre of competence for direct electrical heating within Siemens worldwide.The Division uses its extensive skill and experience to develop, manufacture and market electrical heating appliances with advanced control and regulating systems.
All our heaters are designed for safety according to IEC 335-1 and IEC 335-2-30. Owing to our expertise we were entrusted to chair the international working group preparing the second edition of IEC 675 Household electric direct-acting room heaters - Methods for measuring performance.
We are market leaders in our field in the Nordic countries and a major supplier to electrotechnical wholesalers all over Europe. More than 12,000 of our room heaters kept the media workers, the participants and supporting teams comfortably warm during the 1994 Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer.

Industry and Marine

The Industrial and Marine Division is a leading supplier of electrotechnical and automation equipment and systems for Norwegian industry and for marine vessels worldwide.
Deliveries range from the automation, drive and switchgear components to integrated plants for the different industrial branches such as aluminium smelters, paper mills, dairies, cement plants, etc. Power generation, systems for power management, safety, dynamic positioning etc. also play an important role in the marine field. Our activities include engineering, production, testing, installation, commissioning, training and after-sales support.
