Restaurant Kristjan X The restaurant Kristján X opened on 13th November 1999. The building which houses the restaurant was situated in Thingvellir during the festivities celebrating 1000 years of parliament in 1930. It was used as a canteen for the court of King Christian X of Denmark who was visiting Iceland at that time. In 1938 the house was moved to Hella and was used as a warehouse until a few years ago. In April 1999 the present owner started renovation work on the house which he completed in November 1999. The walls of the restaurant are decorated with pictures of King Christian X and a fishing rod that belonged to the king and which he used on his visit to Iceland in 1930. The restaurant offers delicious meals for every occasion, lamb, steaks, fish, chicken, pizzas, hamburgers, etc. It also caters for groups, as well as for private functions. It’s a friendly restaurant which often offers live music. |
