Icelandair horse festival, general information
Hella 2004 June 29th – July 4th

The 16th Landsmót – Icelandic National Horse Show.  The Icelandair horse festival takes place at Hella, Rangárvellir, from 29. June to 4 July. Landsmót is an unparalleled event, representing the optimum in Icelandic equestrianism and horsebreeding.

Landsmót (Icelandic National Horse Show) is a leading event in Iceland and has been recognized worldwide as a premiere show for Icelandic horses, along with the world championsship for Icelandic horses.

At Landsmót 2002, HRH Princess Ann was the guest of honour, participationg in the parade which highlights every Landsmót. A special guest of honour is also expected at Landsmót 2004-03-17

Icelandair is the principal sponsor of Landsmót, and one of the show’s major attractions is without a doubt the Icelandair Tölt Competition.

Iceland National Horse Show
People from all over the world visit the Iceland National Horse Show. An estimated 10,000 visitors are expected at the year 2004 National Icelandic Horse Show. Ths schedule is exciting and represents the pinnacle of excellence in the handling and breeding of Icelandic horses. There are competition horses (Icelandic: Gćđingar), breeding horses, races and the very best of young riders.

Only the best classified horses participate in the tournament and compete for the most prestigious titles in the country. Shows of Icelandic stallions, mares and their ofsprings give an insight to the best breeding stock available. The fellowship of riders, singing and dancing are also some of the most important features of the festival.

Location and what to do when in Iceland
Iceland is known for it’s beautiful nature and Hella is located near many of Iceland’s spectacular places. As a part of the Golden Circle, Gullfoss is Iceland's most famous waterfall and one of the natural wonders of the world It's in the mighty glacier river Hvítá (White River), jsut few km from two other, Geysir and Hekla. Other exciting thinks to do in the southern region of Iceland are among others to check out the Glacier Lagoon, go to Landmannalaugar or take apart in some glacier adventures at Eyjafjallajokull or Myrdalsjokull.
