Corporate operations
Fiskiðjan Skagfirðingur Ltd. runs various operations. We have a freezing and packing plant together with a salt fish and dried stockfish production in Sauðárkrókur and a shrimp and shellfish plant in Grundarfjörður. The corporation owns a freezing trawler, Málmey SK-1 and 4 ice-fish trawlers, namely; Hegranes SK-2, Skafti SK-3, Skagfirðingur SK-4 and Klakkur SH-510.
Corporation products are sold through various channels. Salt fish, shrimp and clam products are sold to SÍF (The Union of Icelandic Fish Producers); as well as most catch from the freezing trawler Málmey SK-1. Frozen goods produced at the plant in Sauðárkrókur are sold direct to foreign buyers, with or without distributing agents. Fiskiðjan Skagfirðingur also sell products at fresh fish markets in Iceland and Europe.

Company background
The corporation Skagfirðingur hf. was established 31 October 1989. The name was then changed to Fiskiðjan Skagfirðingur hf. in May 1995.
Fiskiðjan Skagfirðingur Ltd. was formed through the buying or joining of various companies through the years. These were Fiskiðja Sauðárkróks hf., Útgerðafélag Skagfirðinga hf., Skjöldur hf. and Hraðfrystihús Grundarfjarðar hf. joined last 1 January 1996.

Company history
The history of the corporation goes all the way back to 1940, when many individuals in the Eyrarsveit area of Snæfellsnes established Hraðfrystihús Grundarfjarðar 31 March 1940. Fiskiðja Sauðárkróks hf. was established 23 December 1955 and the original owners were mainly Kaupfélag Skagfirðinga and the town council of Sauðárkrókur. Later in 1968, Útgerðafélag Skagfirðinga was established with the participation of the municipality and Kaupfélag Skagfirðinga. Nafar hf. from Hofsós later joined Útgerðafélag Skagfirðinga. Skjöldur hf. was also established in 1969 (11 June) by many individuals in Skagafjörður.
