Forefront of research and development into fishing gear- Vonin Ltd.

Vónin was founded in 1969 by five seamen as a shipping company. Early on it proved necessary for one of the crew to stay ashore for the purpose of repairing the trawls. His assignments quickly expanded beyond the trawls of M/S Vónin to services for other shipping companies.

M/S Vónin was sold in November 1995, and today Vónin works solely in the trawlmaking industry.

Currently, Vónin is at the forefront of research and development into fishing gear. Having its own trawl test tank installed in spacious facilities means that the company is in a position to constantly develop, monitor and upgrade existing trawls of all kinds to meet the rigorous requirements of the modern trawling fraternity. The company's strength lies in both experience and close co-operation with Faroese fishermen.

Vónin's main area of business includes:

Manufacturing and repair of all kinds of trawls.
Purse seine net manufacturing and repairs.
Supply of wire ropes, chains and bobbins.
All moorings and nets for aquaculture, made to the customer's specifications.

Vónin runs workshops in two parts of the Faroe Islands. At the headquarters in Fuglafjørður there are two workshops, the office, and the research and development centre. An additional workshop is located in Tórshavn.
